My boyfriend got his car fixed here quickly and at a reasonable price. That's pretty much all you can ask for in a repair shop!

Absolutely amazing place. Completely honest. I went in for an emissions problem I was having a while back last winter. They tell me exactly what was happening, showed me the piece they were replacing, told me what it specifically does, and let me know what else I can expect. I have since started learning how to work on my own car and when I go to places that try to rip me off, it is easy to see. But Zepeda never tried to do that.

The manager Carlos was very professional and nice. They fixed my car and did not leave any dirty marks like the other shops i went to. I think the price was fair, and the experience was pleasant and will definately go again.

Good and honest service. My problem was fixed and no extra brake work or anything was pressured. I would definitely come back here if I ever need more work done on my geriatric car

These guys are the best. Competent. Honest. Friendly. They happen to be just across the alley from me. I'm so lucky! Had a problem today and, not for the first time, they took the time to listen to what the problem was and walk me through what was going on. AND sorted things out for me without a charge! You owe it to yourself to check them out!

I had (now deceased) a 1994 Toyota Camry. I basically never did any maintenance on it other than oil changes for the 10 years I had it, and I finally brought it into Zepeda this past winter because one of my windshield wipers was broken. They fixed the wiper (for like $25, I'd had the same service done on the other wiper at Grossinger a couple years earlier for $150), and did an inspection. They were very thorough when they went over what needed to be fixed, and I felt they were very honest about what was necessary and what could wait. I had my car towed back there when it had its last drive a couple of weeks ago, and they were once again very thorough and explained what exactly had happened. When I buy a new car, I plan to bring it to Zepeda as well. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because they do not always finish work when they say they will, but I think that they probably just take a little more business than they can handle. I still think it is worth the wait.

I had to get more work done, and when it came time to pay there was a misunderstanding, but Carlos went above and beyond to rectify the situation. Exceptional customer service.

It took me 5 years to find a good mechanic in Chicago, and then I moved... These guys were great. I lived in Hyde Park and made the trek up to them on a friend's recommendation. I'm glad that I did. Reasonably priced (not cheap, but not like my last two mechanics), fast, etc. They're really nice too. :) -L

i have to say, our first experience was a really good one =) Definately a lot of "pros" going for this neighborhood shop - 1) they do what they say they are going to do and the quotes are what u pay .. sounds easy enough, but as many of us kno, thats not always the way in the world of mechanics ..final bill shock is one of the most unpleasant things that can happen but Carlos told us to the penny what it would cost and to that penny thats exactly what we paid, even tho our car wound up causing them a bit of minor trouble with rusty bolts that added to the time they originally were expecting to need to do our job .. 2) they dont overcharge u .. no huge padding of labor time and nickle and diming here .. 3) Carlos is pleasant and professional .. he takes the time to explain to u what needs to be done -then what was done and it is their status quo to show u the parts that came from your car ..4) no extra work gets hardsold @ u here .. i asked about a hose i wasnt sure needed replaced - Carlos could have said it did, but he didnt .. i respect the honesty 5) the most important part - they go the extra mile .. our SUV is olllllld ..and olllld cars have bolts that stick and rust - the guys stayed late to try to get our car fixed on a Friday night so i could have it for work on Saturday because i had the flu and was trying to avoid a 4 block early Saturday a.m walk to the bus line that would be running .. it still wound up not being ready because what they had left to do on the car was just not gonna happen in 30 or 45 mins ,but i seriously appreciate the effort --just like i appreciate the fact that they offered to come and pick us up cause we only live 8 or 9 blocks away - if they could have finished the car on that Friday night .. its things like that that make u appreciate a business and pick them in front of other places .. and ill sneak a 6) in too .. they give u a discount if u say u saw them on yelp =) .. Now then-no ones perfect and the things that i would say need tweaking here are not huge issues and certainly not uncommon. This place is busy - busy as in my fiance brought the car by on Monday and was told to come back on Tuesday because they just had too much going on. No problem. We also werent able to pick our car up until Saturday -which means 4 days of the car being in the shop. Again, not a big deal, but understand depending on what u need done, it may not be a same day thing. (We had to have a rack and pinion replaced and it neccesitated some part hunting .. etc, with the extra work on the bolts, id have expected a 2 day job- 3 at the most - but yanno, they are busy -and they are busy because they are good ... so if u need your car quickly or in a certain time frame, ask if its possible) .. the last thing is the most common annoyance at mechanic shops -and that is the call back. We did have to call the shop a couple of times and check on things when we were expecting and didnt get a call from them , but to be honest, it happened a lot less than other places i have been to with cars. My suggestion is -hey u kno its a busy place, if u are dying for an update, dont wait around for the call, make the call yourself. In closing, a good mechanic is hard to find and folks, Zepeda Auto Repair is a good mechanic! They are definately our go-to guys from now on and i would -and will- recommend them to people i know in the neighborhood ..and on yelp!

I brought my car in on a Thursday morning to have a brake inspection done. I knew I would need new brake pads and possibly rotors and told them as much when I stopped in. I also had an oil filter I needed to have installed. At about three they had finished with the inspection and broke down prices for all the parts (both vw and after-market) for me including labor and taxes. I needed to drive the car the next day - and after insisting it would be fine if I had to bring the car back another day have the work done - one manager and mechanic stayed until 8:30 that night to finish the job. I am so happy to find a professional mechanic blocks away from my house that I can trust. When I went to pick up the car they showed me my old rotors and explained exactly why they were not able to re-surface them. And did I mention they installed the oil filter for free? Just a few twists and some bolts - super easy... no charge! And they are super friendly!
